Nettie Mooney was a benefactor. She would contact Sharon to see what was needed and Sharon would let her know. Nettie would send the needed funds. Lillian Finch kept scrapbooks for historical records. Ceramics was a big thing at that time and many people made African Violet pots. At this time, some items had to be replaced and new items were needed. Sharon bought a carpet cleaner from Golden Age for $100.00. It did a great job.
She replaced the heating and air conditioning with HVAC. The in floor heating had failed in spots and some rooms were very cold. The original system for air conditioning was in the attic. You had to go up through where the ice machine is now. It would freeze up in the summer as it ran so much. It would then shut down and the ice would melt into huge pans. The pans would overflow and drip through the ceiling, sometimes collapsing the ceiling. She bought new dishes and donated the old ones to the bible camp. They were thrilled to get them. She bought a new riding lawn mower. The old one had burned up. A new addition was added to the garage, sided, and roofed. New gutters were installed on the Center. New front doors were installed. A new board was put in the sign in front of the building. It was difficult to find that particular board. A light was donated for the parking lot. I would like to thank Sharon for taking the time to meet with me so we could learn a little more about the "early days". Mary Fisher
